Good Morning, Sunshine!!!

For those who know me, it goes without saying that I am typically not a morning person. However, this morning I woke up at 5:30am. I don't know why, I just found myself wide awake and decided I might as well get up instead of blinking at the ceiling. I got the house cleaned from top to bottom, did laundry, organized the inside of some cabinets I'd been neglecting and even managed to get a shower and dry my hair. AMAZING! All of this before 7:00. I'm usually not even up at 7:00. There may be something to this getting up early thing.

When Life Hands You a Lime...

Suck on it and try not to make a face! Go ahead, try it! I sure can't. Lawson is a different story. The video says it all. The boy likes limes! I actually took this video a month or so ago, but I was reminded of it this morning when I handed him half of a lime and he began sucking away on it. No sour face, no shuddering from the shock of the flavor, no nothing! Just a content little man happily sucking away on a lime. I don't think that's normal.

More Fun Than Doing the Dishes

Since our bathtub is out of order at the moment, Lawson has been taking his baths in the kitchen sink. He has so much fun turning the water on and off and moving the faucet back and forth! Anyway, here are a few pictures I snapped of him getting clean!

Just Bust a Move!

A few days ago Lawson disappeared into his room and was being awfully quiet, so I went to see what he was up to. When I came around the corner, he was rocking out to Bob Marley. The kid loves to bust a move! We have music playing all the time and he points at the i-pod nearly every time the song changes and proceed to dance to the new song (for at least the first few seconds until he gets distracted). He also enjoys the tunes at the grocery store and will dance his way through they aisles as I shop. It brightens every day watching him get so much joy from something so simple as a song in the background. It's those little things that we forget as we get older that our children come along and remind us.

And speaking of busting things, how bout busting out the shower!? This is what my husband has been doing for the last week. I've been noticing some strange plumbing issues in that shower over the last few weeks. For instance, the bath would be running, then I'd turn the nozzle to get the shower to turn on and the water would either just keep coming out of the bath or stop running completely. Or you could be mid-shower and the water would just decide to start running out of the bath instead. "Great! Looks like I'm rinsing my hair out from down there..." Well, this weekend, I ran Lawson a bath and went to shut off the water and the hot water wouldn't turn off. NOT good. So, Dustin quickly shut the water off to the whole house and discovered that he'd have to redo all the plumbing for that shower. We had been wanting to redo the shower since we moved in, we just weren't planning on doing it yet. So, now my bathroom not only has no cabinet doors or door (there's this guy I know that likes to rip things apart long before he puts them back together), it also has no shower. We also have company coming tomorrow and a bunch of our family coming in for Lawson's birthday in a few weeks. Which brings me back to that song that Lawson was dancing to... "Don't worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright!" Let's hope so. Here's some pictures of my bathroom.

The Aftermath

With his plumbing work... it didn't leak!!!

Now what???

Gone Fishin'!

We finally ventured out to the Lake near our house to do some fishing yesterday. It was Lawson's first fishing adventure and he sure had a great time... for the first 15 minutes! He loved watching Dustin cast and helping him hold the pole. I even did some fishing myself in Dustin's awesome Budweiser hat with the classy fish hook on it.Lawson got bored of fishing after a short time and we weren't getting any bites, so we were done. We then headed over to the ocean, which is just next to the lake, to watch the sun go down. Beautiful! I can't get over how amazing this island is. There are gorgeous views every direction you look! Lawson enjoys being at the ocean, though sometimes the waves freak him out! It was a wonderful way to end the day.

Teething Bites

At 11 months old, my son has already earned himself a call sign. Hannibal, as in Hannibal Lector. Pilots' call signs are never flattering, so this is no exception. We were at our friends' house over 4th of July weekend and it didn't take long for everyone to realize that Lawson really likes to bite. Be it the table, the half-eaten dog bone on the floor (I know, disgusting), the thyme he managed to yank out of their pot on the back deck, or their fingers, he will put it in his mouth. This is leaving off the list, toes, arms, elbows, collarbones or whatever other body part he finds his sharp, new teeth to be near. However, lucky for our friends, only their fingers were nibbled when they bestowed upon him his brand new call sign. Lucky for Lawson, this biting has only been brought on by the sudden eruption of all four front teeth, so I think it's safe to assume that he's not necessarily doomed to be "the biter". At least I hope so...
